NCS in Maiduguri Execute inmates, Label them Escapees

Charles Okah, a convicted terrorist, has made a shocking revelation about the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). According to Okah, over 100 inmates at the New Minimum Security Custodial Centre (NMSCC) in Maiduguri, Borno State, were unlawfully executed by the NCoS during a flood disaster on September 10, 2024.

The inmates were allegedly shot dead by a trigger-happy armed squad unit and then labeled as “escapees” to cover up the crime.Okah, who claims to have witnessed the incident, narrated how the flood caused chaos and panic among the inmates, leading to a stampede. He alleged that the armed squad unit began firing live bullets into the crowd, killing over 100 inmates. Okah also claimed that the NCoS authorities had the dead inmates buried in mass graves alongside drowned flood victims.Okah’s revelation has sparked outrage, with many calling for an investigation into the incident.

The Nigerian Correctional Service has previously reported that 281 inmates were missing from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri, but Okah’s account suggests that many of these inmates may have been killed. The incident has raised concerns about human rights abuses and extrajudicial killings in Nigeria’s correctional facilities.
