Tragedy struck in Ibadan, Oyo State, today as a stampede occurred at a children’s party event, resulting in the loss of many young lives and leaving several others critically injured. The event, a Children Fun Fair party, was announced by Queen Naomi, the ex-wife of the Oni of Ife, on popular radio station Agidigbo FM.
The party was intended for children aged 0-13, and an estimated 5,000 children had gathered at the venue by 5 a.m.Despite efforts by security personnel to control the crowd, the situation spiraled out of control, leading to the devastating stampede.
The Oyo State Governor has announced that the event organizers have been arrested, while Agidigbo FM has denied being the organizers, claiming they were only a media partner.
