The Kogi State Government has announced plans to roll out a ₦8.55 billion social investment program aimed at supporting 281,750 beneficiaries across the state.
The initiative is designed to provide direct assistance to vulnerable households and individuals. It will cover livelihood empowerment, and agricultural support to help cushion economic hardship.
According to the plan, part of the funds will go into conditional cash transfers for low-income families, while another segment will focus on grants and training to boost small businesses and trades. Farmers are also expected to benefit through inputs, equipment, and extension services.
Government officials said the package is part of efforts to reduce poverty and strengthen food security in Kogi. They noted that targeting over 281,000 people will expand access to basic support and create more opportunities at the grassroots.
Implementation is expected to be coordinated through existing state agencies, with emphasis on transparency and proper targeting. Authorities added that monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to ensure the resources reach the intended beneficiaries.
