Wike Orders Immediate Shutdown of FCT Secretariat for Dissolved FG Houses Committee

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has directed that the office of the dissolved ad-hoc committee on the sale of Federal Government houses be shut down with immediate effect.

The order affects the secretariat that was handling matters relating to the disposal of federal properties in Abuja. Staff have been told to vacate the premises and cease all activities until further notice.

The move comes shortly after President Bola Tinubu approved the scrapping of the Presidential Implementation Committee, PIC, on the alienation of federal government landed assets.

The PIC had been overseeing the sale and allocation of federal houses nationwide.According to the FCT administration, closing the secretariat is to ensure there is no vacuum or continued operations by a body that no longer has presidential backing.

The ministry said all records and pending files will be taken over by relevant departments for proper handover.Wike emphasized that the decision aligns with the President’s directive to restructure how federal properties are managed. He added that going forward, any process involving government houses in the FCT will follow new guidelines to be issued by the appropriate authorities.
