Kwankwaso: Tinubu Runs Muslim-Christian Ticket, With First Lady Representing Christians

NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso has responded to recent comments by Sheikh Isa Jingir, saying President Bola Tinubu already operates a Muslim-Christian arrangement in government. Kwankwaso argued that while the President and Vice President are both Muslims, the Christian community is not left out of the administration. He pointed to the role of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as an example of Christian representation at the highest level.

According to him, governance should be judged by inclusion and impact, not only by the religious identities of those in elected executive offices. He maintained that appointing people of different faiths into key positions shows balance within the current government.Sheikh Jingir, the National Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, had earlier criticized the Muslim-Muslim ticket and called for more deliberate Christian inclusion.

His remarks sparked fresh debate about religious balance in politics.Kwankwaso’s reply suggests that the debate should shift from titles to actual representation. He said Nigerians should focus on policies and appointments that reflect the country’s diversity, rather than reducing leadership to religious labels alone.
