A case of alleged fraud has sparked tension in parts of Katsina State after a man reportedly collected N95 million from a notorious bandit leader under false pretenses.
According to Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu, also called General, who represents Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, the suspect was given the large sum to procure and deliver high-grade weapons.Instead of fulfilling the deal, the man allegedly disappeared with the entire amount.
He has not been seen since the payment was made, and efforts to reach him have failed.Hon. Aliyu made the account public, saying the incident has heightened anxiety in affected communities.
The development is unusual because it involves a criminal network being targeted by fraud, rather than the other way around.Security sources say they are monitoring the situation closely, as fallout from the missing funds could trigger reprisals or further violence. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm while investigations into the matter continue.
