Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has contracted Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying and policy advisory firm, under a $1.2 million agreement.

The primary purpose of this engagement is to protect and strengthen his personal reputation and influence within the United States, while addressing lobbying activities associated with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The contract was formally executed on March 9 and 10, 2026. Karl Von Batten, the firm’s managing partner, signed on behalf of the lobbying entity, while Fabiyi Oladimeji, a Nigerian politician, represented the former Vice President.

The 12-month arrangement is payable in six instalments and includes strategic guidance on policy positioning, reputational management, and stakeholder engagement.

This initiative takes place against the backdrop of ongoing political developments in Nigeria, as prominent figures seek to shape international perceptions ahead of future electoral cycles.

It highlights Atiku Abubakar’s proactive approach to maintaining a favourable profile in key global arenas, including interactions with the United States Congress and executive branch.

Further details of the agreement have been documented in relevant filings and reports, illustrating the scope of services and the broader context of diplomatic and reputational strategies employed by Nigerian political actors on the international stage.
