Gunmen Kill JIBWIS Discipline Officer and Abduct His Wife and Newborn in Bauchi

Gunmen broke into the home of Alhaji Muhammad Bakoshi, who serves as the Discipline Officer for the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Zalau, within Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, during the early morning of Saturday, 22 November 2025.

In the assault, the attackers shot Bakoshi dead on the spot and seized his wife who had given birth just two weeks earlier and their newborn daughter, taking them to an unknown location.

The raid left the village in a state of shock, with residents describing the brutality of an attack that targeted a new mother and her infant. Community members voiced deep fear that the unidentified assailants could strike again and called on the government to intervene swiftly to restore security.

As of the latest reports, the Bauchi State Police Command had not released an official statement about the killing and abductions, leaving many locals anxious for information. Authorities are reportedly collaborating with local vigilante groups and hunters to locate the missing family members and apprehend those responsible.

The incident adds to a troubling pattern of violence in Bauchi, where armed groups have increasingly targeted religious figures and civilians alike. It underscores the urgent need for stronger security measures and sustained community support to protect vulnerable populations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
