Manchester United Named Second‑Most Valuable Football Club, Valued at $6.6 Billion Amid Ongoing Financial Revamp

Manchester United has been ranked as the second‑most valuable football franchise worldwide, with Forbes estimating its market value at approximately $6.6 billion (about £4.9 billion).

The only club ahead of them is Real Madrid, whose valuation stands at roughly $6.75 billion, leaving United firmly in the runner‑up position on the global financial leaderboard.

The club’s worth is underpinned by an enormous international fan base and a portfolio of lucrative commercial partnerships that sustain its brand strength despite a recent dip in on‑field performance.

Although the organization carries a debt burden close to £1 billion, its overall financial resilience continues to attract the attention of analysts and investors alike.

During the 2023‑24 season, United generated $834 million (£620 million) in revenue, representing a modest 1 % increase over the previous year even though the team did not qualify for the Champions League.

In response to the financial pressure, the Glazer family, together with minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have introduced cost‑cutting initiatives, including reductions in staffing levels.

Looking ahead, United is moving forward with a £2 billion renovation of Old Trafford aimed at modernising the stadium and unlocking additional commercial opportunities.

Coupled with tighter fiscal controls, the project is intended to bolster the club’s financial standing while also enhancing its competitive prospects on the pitch.
